drop the cd in your machine and start using!

Not at all, no third party app's liek windows or anything a simple command depending on your distro and you've got any theme engine you need. Just go to gnome-look.org or kde-look.org or box-look.org and get some sweet themes for your desk.

i'd rather prefer an app with gui ;) than running cryptic commands on a black screen ;)

it's actually the opposite of that now. Pretty much everything done in linux is through gui you can even install the theme engines through gui if you wish i just prefer the CLI so i gave that as the option =P
